Gen. 48:3-4 “And Jacob said unto Joseph, God Almighty appeared unto me at Luz in the land of Canaan, and blessed me,” “And said unto me, Behold, I will make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, and I will make of thee a multitude of people; and will give this land to thy seed after thee for an everlasting possession.”
He couldn’t see the forest for the trees, suggesting that getting too close to a problem, binds one to the bigger picture. It means to step back and refocus your perspective. What were the “trees” in Jacob’s life that were so distracting that they could have taken his focus off God’s plan for his life? The sins of his son Judah; the supposed death of his beloved son Joseph; a famine in Canaan that threatened to destroy the seventy-plus members of his household; the anxiety of sending ten of his sons to Egypt in search of food; the possibility of losing his youngest son, Benjamin, as collateral for food; moving his household to a new land and culture; those are just the ones we know about. But Jacob kept his eye on the prize: God’s promise to create a nation through Abraham, Isaac, and now, Jacob.
Don’t let the “trees” you encounter today take your eyes off God’s “forest;” His everlasting plan for your life.
FROM MEXICO:
Bro. Kincaid reports the Lord is wondrously blessing the work among the Prince of Peace churches and Bible schools in Mexico. One of the churches in Monterrey recently celebrated 35 years of God’s goodness when the church first started in homes. Many shared testimonies of how God faithfully blessed the work among His people since then.
Current students and recent graduates of the Reynosa Bible School met with potential new students from all over Mexico, who are interested in attending the Bible School in the new school year. They answered their questions and shared how God is using them as they serve in various churches throughout Mexico. Bro. Kincaid says he is especially grateful for those who have focused on taking the gospel to the poorer and more difficult areas.
The churches among the Chamula indigenous people in Chiapas are currently building nine new churches. Many seeds have been planted, watered, and harvested. God is multiplying His work and moving His people to glorify His name in the earth! PRAISE HIS NAME!!
