Victorious News - June

Unconditional Love

John 21:16 “He saith to him again the second time, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my sheep.”

How would you feel about a friend denying any knowledge of you? We know that’s what happened when Peter denied knowing Jesus. As a disciple, Peter was outspoken and impulsive. Perhaps his weakness was a wake-upcall. But how does one recover from such a failure? After having been given the keys to the kingdom of God and declared to be the foundation of Christ’s Church, how does one regain favor after failure?

Matt. 16:17-19 “And Jesus answered and said unto Him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. And I say also unto thee, "That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

Favor is the word—favor as in grace. Grace is the unmerited (unconditional) favor of God which is what Jesus showed to Peter after His crucifixion and resurrection. When Jesus met with Peter after the resurrection, He didn’t say, “Peter, you can continue to serve Me if you promise never to deny Me again”. He simply recommissioned Peter unconditionally in spite of his failure. That’s how God loves you today. Unconditionally, no strings attached. Rest in His grace and love today.

Church Chatter

The Mother-Daughter Banquet was a great success. Every family or group decorated their table, and they were very imaginative and creative. Some of the men of the church served and did cleanup after the banquet. They did a wonderful job and a great big Thank You to them. (See photo gallery below)

The Pastor and wife have had 3 family members pass away within 2 months, but God has blessed the church with the birth of a little girl, Oaklynn Sweeney. Heaven gained 3 and Earth has gained 1. Praise the Lord!!!

Mission Minutes

FROM TORTOLA - Sis. Veta reports that the Easter celebration at the Sunday School was a great success. There were 2 young ladies that came to help, and they were such a blessing. They not only helped with the school but also at Sis. Veta’s home. There were 2 former students that came to the Easter celebration and surprised Sis. Veta. They spoke to the students, telling them of how the Sunday school influenced their lives and walk with God. What a blessing to see how God works in the lives of people. Sis. Veta is now preparing for VBS.
