2 Cor. 4:7 “But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.”
Everyone knows what it is like to be disappointed by someone we love or admire. It can devastate us and damage our relationships because we place high expectations on those we love. Sometimes we forget they are broken people just like we are. According to 2 Corinthians 4:7, we are all earthen vessels, jugs of clay, easily chipped. There is a translation of this verse that says, “But the beautiful treasure (the Gospel) is contained in us-cracked pots made of earth and clay —so that the transcendent character of this power will be clearly seen as coming from God and not from us.” God blesses us cracked pots in spite of our sinful, undeserving nature; and high on His list of blessings is forgiveness. As we look to Him alone, He gives us grace. (He imparts a million blessings we don’t deserve.) And mercy (He withholds a million judgements we do deserve). If He gives grace and mercy to cracked pots like us, perhaps we need to extend the same to those we love.
We were privileged and blessed to have Bishop Richard minister in a Sunday service.
Renovations are continuing on the Fellowship Hall. The flooring has been installed in the bathroom and painting done. It will soon be completed and ready for use. Thanks to all who have helped in this project.
FROM ASIA
Bro. Clint Taylor writes, he received exciting news from their field representative in Bangladesh who reports, despite opposition, 18 fulltime pastors and 18 lay leaders are boldly proclaiming the Gospel. Lives are being changed as large groups of people gather wanting to know more about their Savior.
FROM MEXICO
Bro. Kincaid writes, God continues to bless and grow churches in Mexico. Lives are being saved and changed and many are being healed. He says it is exciting to see the growing churches establishing new missions in other areas of their cities. One mission has built a new building for church services since attendance has exceeded the capacity where they had been worshipping.
Bro. Kincaid reports he has been at many celebrations since the end of February. One, honoring the life and work of Bro. Mundo Rios, who has helped lead the Bible School for over 20 years. Another was the 28th Anniversary of the church at Progresso. A few weeks later was the 50th Wedding Anniversary for Bro. Aristeo Perez and his wife Martha. Bro. Aristeo faithfully served with Bro. Kincaid in southern Mexico in the 1960’s.
Next, the pastors of the northern district of Mexico honored Bro. Kincaid at the church in Reynosa for his 89th birthday. The following weekend he attended a service where his son, Darin, preached. The church was full and God gave them a wonderful altar service, where healings took place and people re-dedicated their lives to the Lord.
