Mark 4:39 “And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.”
Several years ago, officials of Washington’s Reagan Airport received more than 8,600 complaints about noise. Imagine their surprise when they discovered 6,500 of them came from the same person. Some unidentified neighbor was incensed enough to call on average, 18 times every day of the year. Airports are some of the loudest places on earth, but they don’t have a corner on noise pollution. We live in a loud society and it’s hard to find peace and quiet anywhere. That’s why noise cancelling headphones are so popular. We need a quiet retreat-that is, we need to retreat to zones of silence every day.
Zephaniah 1:7 “Hold thy peace at the presence of the Lord God…”
The Psalmist said: “wait thou only upon God…” Psalm 62:5.
Habakkuk 2:20 “But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him.”
Several places in scripture tell us to wait and be silent before the Lord.
It takes discipline to find a quiet place, turn off our electronics, and meditate quietly on the Lord. We have to work at quietness, but “quiet” does make a difference in our lives. Our souls are strengthened by stillness and steadied by solitude.
Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God…”
The first Sunday evening message for February was “The Power of His Presence”. We are so thankful that God honors Victory Tabernacle with His Presence each service.
We give a shout-out to Alexandra Rodriquez for quoting the 23rd Psalm in a Sunday morning service. We are so grateful that people (youth) find it beneficiary to memorize the scripture.
Rev. James Fetter and his mother were in service with us on a Wednesday night, where he preached a message on “Press Forward”. God blessed as people came forward for prayer.
We were also honored to have Rev. Gary Zigner with us in service. His message was on “Sanctify The Lord” Isaiah 8:11-14.
The Pastor showed slides of a Mission Trip to Kenya from 2005 during a Wednesday night service. It was wonderful to be reminded of what God did during that mission trip and how God has blessed the work in Kenya in the following 20 years.
We had our Valentine Party on February 15th. It was a desert bar (sugar overload). We thank the young adults for all their hard work in organizing, decorating, and hosting the party. They did a good job as it was their first effort.
FROM MEXICO: Bro. Kincaid writes, God has been blessing the Prince of Peace Churches in Mexico. Recently, a 12-year-old boy, who had been in a coma for 2 months was raised up after prayer and God’s wonder working power. He is now walking and talking as normal. A new church in Positos has now been constructed to the point that they are having services. A tarp is covering the building while the roof is still under construction. Bro. Kincaid says it is exciting to see the desire of the church members to start using the building to reach more in their community even as they work to complete the project.
FROM THE PHILIPPINES: Bro. Taylor reports their workers in the Philippines are gearing up to begin the annual youth camps and VBS outreach programs. Literally hundreds of youths come to the youth camps and are fed the Word of God several times a day. This weeklong event is also filled with many hours of worship and moments of counseling, helping young people find healing through the loving arms of Christ. The result is many make decisions to accept Jesus. The VBS outreach programs hold mobile VBS programs in the towns and villages, bringing the Gospel message to the children. The children long for this time of year and hundreds give their hearts to Christ.

WHAT KEEPS YOU FROM BEING QUIET BEFORE GOD? HOW WILL YOU MAKE TIME TO INTENTIONALLY BE STILL?
FATHER, WE LIVE IN A NOISY WORLD, FULL OF ACTIVITY. PLEASE HELP ME TO LEARN TO BE QUIET BEFORE YOU, TO WAIT OUT THE WAVES OF MY SOUL AND TRUST THAT YOU’RE PRESENT.
